Why It’s Important:

If everything is designed in a cohesive manner, specified correctly and properly actioned, your pond will have a much better start to life than if multiple aspects have simply been thrown together. In fact, getting your pond set up correctly from the start will greatly decrease your risk levels for many issues and can even help lower your maintenance requirements.

Building a pond may seem fairly simple but something as basic as an incorrectly measured hole can have flow on consequences that run far deeper than not having your liner fit properly if you’ve already purchased other important elements. Having a correctly sized filter and pump will help keep your ecosystem happy and healthy and it’s especially important if you intend on keeping fishy friends but all your preparation will go out the window if everything doesn’t line up at the end. This is why we recommend calling in an expert or constructing your pond before making decisions about what you will use to keep things clean.

Please Note: Even if you don’t need physical assistance with construction and/or installation, we welcome you to get in touch so we can offer any advice you may need to make sure your pond will love you as much as you’re going to love it.

Why It’s Important:

Presumably, you have a pond because you want to enjoy it. While cleaning and maintaining it probably isn’t the most fun thing on your to do list, incorrectly maintained ponds can quickly deteriorate.

When not looked after correctly, you pond can become an eyesore or possibly even a health hazard if things get too far out of hand. No-one wants a stinky mosquito breeding ground in their backyard but if you haven’t got the right equipment and don’t keep on top of your maintenance properly, there’s a good chance that’s exactly what you’ll end up with.

We’re not trying to scare you here, but the importance of proper, regular, maintenance, cannot be ignored.

Each and every pond is a unique ecosystem that has its own specific care needs so your first port of call should be establishing how best to look after you pond.

This will depend on a number of factors such as:

  • The size and location of your pond.
  • What fish and plants (if any) you have in it.
  • How you want your pond to look (green and leafy, crystal clear, etc).

No matter what level of assistance you would like with maintaining your pond, we are happy to answer any questions you may have.

While we strive to provide as much information as possible on our blog and in our newsletter, there’s not much that can beat personally tailored advice for your pond and maintenance routine.
